Rock Carpet: Installing It

The techniques used during the installation of rock carpet are pretty simple and most of the detail goes into the mixing and measuring of materials, which is done by professional technicians.

The first step in installing rock carpet is to remove everything from that room or area. You can help your technicians by doing this before they arrive. Technicians will completely clean the flooring area to be covered. There is no need for you to buy any specific cleaners because the technicians clean and clear the rooms/areas as part of the installation process.

The fitting is then carried out by the technician(s) who have completed a comprehensive training program to ensure that quality standards are always met. Fitting is a term that basically means measuring Length X width X height (LWH) of the area to be covered in conjunction with how much Rock Carpet material will be needed. Once measurements have been made and recorded, material mixing begins.

The rock carpet is then trowel applied to a substrate, which is usually cement, concrete, wood, or tiles. The carpet is then applied as a mortar to a thickness of about 8 to 10mm.

It is a clean and relatively simple installation that is not an "out of your way" process and is quiet. Because rock carpet is not your average flooring type and is more expensive that common flooring, most providers offer assistance with helping you choose a combination of colors, base, and rocks that will meet the needs, preference, and budget of each individual client.

This article is not intended to be instructions for an untrained professional, rather information as to what you can expect to take place at your home or place of application.

Application techniques do vary from technician to technician but are usually pretty universal. Though carpet is not incredibly difficult to install, it is always to be installed by licensed professionals. These professionals have gone through training and instruction and have received certification that they are professionals on all the proper techniques, ensuring your new rock carpet meets your standards.
